You can create a new script or import scripts from Dropbox or Google Drive

The Teleprompter for Video app allows you to add, edit, delete scripts as well as import them from Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive.

To get started, tap the 3 lines to enter the script management screen.

Click the 3 lines to enter the script management screens

If you are new to the app, you will not have any scripts yet and will see a screen similar to the one shown below.

When you first use the app the list of scripts will be empty

Press the + button in the top right corner to create or import a script.

You can create a new script or import scripts from Dropbox or Google Drive

We will create a new script, but if you have scripts stored in Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive then simply press the appropriate option, sign into your account and select your file. The teleprompter app will import the following file formats doc, docx, rtf, txt and pdf.

Now we have a blank script we can give it a name in the top box “this is a test script”, and then write the script in the bottom box.

Type in your script and add formatting to make it easier to read.

I’ve decided to use the formatting toolbar to add some nice colours, fonts and formatting to the script.

Script editing toolbar

Finally, press Save to save your script and you will return to the list of scripts which now has one entry.

You can select, edit and delete any script in your list.

If you now want to use this script you can tap ‘select’.

If you want to edit it further then tap edit

If you want to delete it, tap delete.

When you have multiple scripts in the list, simply tap the script you are interested in, and the Select / Edit / Delete options will appear.

Happy script editing 🙂

  2. Jean murphy

Hi I can’t get the paste function to work – any ideas?

  3. Kurt Nybakken

If I have to re download the app are my scripts saved. The app is soooo easy to use. Thanks

    Hello Phil,

After purchasing the unlimited version, I’ve tried importing a text from Google Drive several times using several different formats including RTF, and TXT once I saw them listed amongst the four supported formats. Despite this, I keep getting, “Sorry, authorization error.” I considered your other suggestion, Restore Purchase, but have been unable to find that button in the “settings screen”.

    Hope this finds you well,

I purchased the upgrade to the app but I have been unable to download a pdf document into the app from Dropbox. When I go to download it, the app states the file has downloaded and asks for a title to type in but no content is shown. However, I have been able to download a different pdf document from Dropbox into the app. The document that is not showing was a scanned page from a text book.

I would appreciate your response as soon as possible.

      Hi Brian,

Thank you for purchasing the app. There are 2 types of PDF document,

      – True PDF – Also known as a Real or Normal PDF. This is created digitally by printing to PDF from various programs such as Microsoft Word. True PDFs have content (text and images) which can be copy/pasted into other file formats.
      – Scanned PDF – The human eye sees text in this kind of PDF, but computers don’t because it’s just an image of a document inserted into a PDF page. In order to extract text from a scanned PDF you need to use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract the text.

Our app is able to import scripts from True PDF documents but not from Scanned PDF documents.

      Kind regards,

How do you slow the pace of the script

    • Phil

      Hi Sonia,

You can control the speed of scrolling by tapping the + and – buttons on the recording screen. You can also pause the scrolling using the pause icon. If you have a Bluetooth remote control you can also control this remotely.

      • hector brum v

Could you please recommend a remote that will work with the app please?

        • Phil

Yes you can. The app has been programmed to receive signals from Bluetooth remote controls. You can do the following using a remote control:

          • Start and stop recording
          • Pause scrolling
          • Speed up and slow down scrolling

The remote I use and recommend is the Satechi Bluetooth Multi-Media Remote Control –

          Kind regards,

It used to work perfectly before but now when I try to download script from google drive it just has the same gibberish in the title and no content in the script box. Tried redownloading and restarting my iPhone. Any help???

    • Phil

Hi Greg, this has been fixed on the latest version. Please can you update your app from the App Store. Sorry for the inconvenience. Phil

  8. Lisa

Please tell me how to make the script narrower. I’m holding it in landscape position. I don’t recall how I made it wider.

  9. Al Gomez

Phil, i download the pdf file script but it erased all the text format that serve as my guide or cue.

    Hep pls

    • Phil

Hi Al, when you import scripts, the app removes all formatting. Any formatting you need should be added within the script editing screen.

Can I use an iPad as remote control of an iPhone? If so, please provide details for how to set that up.

  11. saurabh

can someone else (my helper) control my scripts while i speak in the camera

Thanks for your reply above. What does adding an image to recorded video mean? Does it mean that my background will be replaced with that image ( a virtual background)?
