Your brain loves video – why video marketing is so important

Have you ever thought about why videos are so powerful in getting a message across? Or why we find it easier to remember something we’ve watched on screen?

It’s because our brains are wired to love video.

The power of the visual

Video is increasingly becoming the most popular form of marketing. For the simple reason that it’s highly effective.

Why?

Because research shows that the average viewer remembers 95% of a message they’ve watched. But only 10% of a message they’ve read.

Our brains love visual information. In fact, we can process visuals almost 60,000 times faster than text.

If you think about it, written words actually make up a very small proportion of our daily life. And in the big picture of human history, reading is a relatively recent invention. So just like our cave-dwelling ancestors, our brains are hard-wired to notice, absorb and respond to the images and sounds of the world around us.

And that’s why video is so powerful.

It re-enacts the real world. Your viewers see your face, hear your voice, and understand your setting. They feel like they’re right there with you.

And that helps them connect to you and your message at a much deeper, personal level.

You might have started making videos simply because everyone else was. You might not have really thought about why…

But you’re onto a good thing. By watching you on screen, your audience will instinctively be much more engaged with your key message and take action in response. Because when you make a video, you are creating something that their brains really love.
